Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) more popularly known as her stage name Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. This was the moment that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on 21st July. In the following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she performed with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On the 21st of October in 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. On the 13th of November two singles titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on 16 November. It was then released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019 a music video was released for the song. It already has over three million hits on YouTube within the initial week. As a supporting act She toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
